Sint-Lodewijk has been
founded by the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. It is
the oldest institution for physically disabled children in Belgium. In 1869 the
19th House of the Congregation was founded in Kwatrecht serving as an orphanage
and boarding school. In 1921 the first boarding school for physically disabled
girls was founded. For the last twenty years an enormous evolution has taken
place.
The school has been approved as a school type 4 (= children and youngsters with
a physical disability). The primary department has 90 children. The secondary
department: 120 children and adolescents.
