I teach Ancient World History to 9th grade students (14-15 years old) at McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. The course covers that period of human history from origins to around 1500 CE. I teach very few of these figures you ask about. Near the end of the year we are to a point where the Renaissance extended into Northern Europe. Hans Holbein and Albrecht Durer are German, not Flemish, but I also bring in the work of Jan van Eyck ("Wedding Portrait" is in our text) and Pieter Bruegel. As this is but a survey course of history, we do not look into any of these men's work in great detail, but work by these are used as examples as to the direction art and thought was taking during this time.
By the way, last year I took a graduate level course at Middle Tennessee State University entitled "Pre-Modern European History." One of the main points made by the readings and the professor in this course was the significance of the Low Countries in the Dutch Revolt of the 16th century against the influence of Charles V of Spain and the Holy Roman Empire. For me, this was the first time I really understood the significance of your area in the formation of the modern republic. For many Americans, we are sort of led to believe we invented our form of government on our own with little outside help other than some English institutions, and that then it spread to others
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Hello from Lenoir City, Tennessee! I gave your email to our history department head. He checked all of the textbooks used in our history department. Here is the information you requested.
Our department uses four different history books. There is information about Mercator and Andreas Versalius. None of the other names were mentioned in our textbooks.

We hope this helps.

I have surveyed our World History teacher and our Advanced Placement European History teachers. I have the data you requested. I would prefer to send it via regular mail; our scanners don't scan text that well. I have the page the person is listed on, the front cover of the book, which didn't copy well because of the background, and the title page of the book, which gives the publication data.

In the AP European History text, only one person, Andreas Vesalius, was mentioned, althought the teacher indicated the following were also studied: Breughel, Rubens, Eyck, and Jansenius. He uses his own material to teach about these persons.

In the World History text, Breughel de Oudere, Rubens, and Eyck were mentioned in the two different texts he uses for instruction.

I have the pages the above are mentioned xeroxed and ready to send. I'd like to send via mail, so I need a postal address.

I am glad to assist you in your research.
