March 20, 2001 Dear Student and Teacher Researchers of Sint-Lodewijk, We are sixth grade students from Carlos Houck Middle School in Salem, Oregon. We recieved you e-mail message on March 11th, and hope our reply helps you with your research. We only found one of your listed important historical figures in our History book, A Message of Ancient Days. The person we found is named Gerhardus Mercator. (page 44) Our book briefly states that he was a German cartographer from whom the Mercator map was named after.
