Dear Researchers:
Hello from The People's Republic of China. The International School of
Beijing does indeed cover all of the artist
listed in your program in our pre-IB History class for the grade 10 students.
Additionally Belgium is central in our study of World War I, World WarII, the
Marshall Plan and post-war Europe. These topics are included in our IB
History classes. The textbooks and sources vary from year to year
depending on the class and the course level. We do not have the ability to
scan here, sorry.
The artist are discussed in great length but incorporated with other artist of the period. A few of the better known artist are showcased by our teachers and the art department. Political History of Belgium is central to the prelude of war in discussing Belgium's neutrality and the invasions of her lands by Germany in both wars. What always remains a confusing issue for my students is the sanctuary given the Kaiser after World War I by the King of Belgium. Students have a very difficult time understanding how a country so ravaged by war from the aggressor Germany, could permit that King to reside in their country after the war?! The atrist then, art history, and early 20th century history of Europe (1900-1955) are the main areas of which Belgium plays a key part in our course work.
I hope we have been of some help, best of luck, Dennis M. Boyle-Woods, Social Studies Dept. Chair
