Anatomist
Born: Brussel 31-12-1514
Died: Zakynthos (Griekenland) 2-10-1564

Vesalius studied anatomy in Leuven and Parijs. In 1543 he published his main work

The humani corporis libri septem. In that he rejected Galenus’ anatomic theory.

In former Europe the critics were hard, he even got accused of heresy. His description of the functioning of the heart became the foundation of Harvey’s real description of the circulation of the blood.
